About this ebook

She was only supposed to be a tenant, but when she was threatened because of him, she became so much more.

Renting out the apartment over his garage shouldn’t be a life-changing decision, but when Delta soldier Cormac “Fletch” Fletcher meets Emily Grant, he feels an instant connection. He can’t stand the thought of Emily and her young daughter living anywhere unsafe. Offering cheap rent is a small price to pay for their safety...and Fletch’s peace of mind.

Being a single mother is difficult at best, but renting the extremely affordable space from Fletch makes Emily’s life a lot easier...until it doesn’t. Suddenly all the money she’s saving thanks to Fletch’s generosity is going into the hands of a blackmailer. And what little food Emily can afford goes to her daughter Annie, so the girl doesn’t go to bed hungry...leaving Emily weaker and weaker.

When miscommunication has Emily assuming Fletch is in on the blackmail, he not only has to gain her trust, but also deal with a man holding a grudge against Fletch and his entire Delta Force team. A task made more difficult when the dangerous man gets his hands on Emily and Annie...

** Rescuing Emily is the 2nd book in the Delta Force Heroes Series. Each book is a stand-alone, with no cliffhanger endings.

Rescuing Emily in book #2 in Susan Stoker's Delta Heroes series. This series is about an elite group of soldiers called the Delta Force. They are the best of the best and are called upon when they need situation resolved quietly and quickly. These guys are pure alpha males and will stop at nothing to protect their country, military family and the ones they love. Emily Grant is needing a new place for her and her six-year-old daughter Annie to live after he current landlord started making inappropriate comments about her daughter. Being a single mom, money is tight and finding a place that is close to work and her daughter's school is not always easy or cheap. When she sees an ad for a small one bedroom apartment that is within her budget she makes the decides to go and check things out. What she didn't expect to find was that her new landlord is a sexy soldier who has no problem with her having a child. The apartment is a dream come true, it is small but clean and appears to be in a safe area and her new landlord is great with her daughter. Now if only she could get her mind off the sexy man who has taken over her thoughts and dreams. Cormac "Fletch" Fletcher looking for a tenant to rent the small apartment above his garage. Since he gone often with his job with the Delta Force he would like to have someone else on the property to look over things while he is gone. Delta Force soldiers are required to keep everyone in the dark about the specialized crew he is part of but he knows he still has enemies out there they would not hesitate to cause problems if they ever identified who he was. When Emily shows up to inquire about the apartment he feels an immediate attraction to her but there is also something hiding in her eyes that makes him want to pull her close and protect her. When he discovers she has a daughter who has been tormented by others he makes an instant decision to rent them the apartment. Little did he know this decision would change his whole future. I loved watching Fletch and Annie's relationship grown. He was so patient and understanding with the little girl, never losing his cool when she asked him a million questions. You can see the instant love these two have for each other and how protective Fletch feels towards the child. When a misunderstanding causes him and Emily to pull away from each other before even getting a chance to see how their mutual attraction would play out you feel this heartache and pain each go through. Luckily these two are able to work things out and we get to see how these three grow together into a close unit. When danger threatens Emily and Annie's life, Fletch knows it is up to him and his elite team to save these two and make them part of the family he never knew he wanted. This book was absolutely amazing, I loved it so much. While the heat level was very mild compared to most of the books I read, I have to say the story is so well written that you don't miss it at all. I would highly recommend this book to others and look forward to reading the next book in the series as well. I received an eARC of this book compliments of the publisher in exchange for my honest review and opinion. All ratings and opinions stated are my own.

I like Susan Stoker's books. I was enjoying the free sample & considering buying this book when the plot turned too ugly for me. I didn't want to live through this evil plot. Others will love it, but I didn't want those pictures in my head. I hate liars. I also hate the miscommunication trope. I recommend many of Susan's books. This one just upset me so much, maybe because a child was involved, that I had to write my gut reaction to it.

I’m not sure what it was about this story, but it hit right in feels the whole way through. My heart ached for Emily, and as much as Annie gave some levity, the weight of the burden Emily felt through almost the entire book weighed on my feelings. It took quite a bit for things to work out right for the characters involved, and I kept rooting for them, waiting for them to get on the same page, the right foot. There was only a few moments when it happened, and you knew the trouble was going to strike before too long. It did, and surprisingly, the weight lifted, because you knew it was finally going to be set to rest. Loved Emily, loved Fletch, and loved little Annie!
