Fabulously well done story! This is the 3rd book in the series, but the first I've read. While I think starting from the beginning of any series is a good idea to get the feel of the group dynamic & everything, I didn't feel lost at all. I felt sort of like Fiona - welcomed into this group of new people unconditionally, and without reservations. And wanting to get to know everyone on the team even more, so I am REALLY looking forward to more books! : ) Hunter aka Cookie goes on a semi-routine mission w/ his team - hostage rescue. He's not cocky about it, but is pretty sure he's prepared. And then, in the midst of this rescue, there is someone else - Fiona has been a hostage much longer than his intended rescue, and yet shows a kindness and strength of character he can't help but be drawn to. I love Hunter & Fee! I love his caring for her & her moxie. And the tough subject of her story... I just think it was written very well - we get all the emotions and enough details that we know what's going on w/o being exploiting. All the supporting characters are also written very well, as mentioned, but I will say that Tex sorta stole the show for a bit there. Hoping to read more about him for sure! Definite 5++ story! : )

There was simply so much to love about Fiona and Cookie! They both are so strong and caring, sweet and loving, empathetic and sympathetic. Life has not been easy for her, and he wants to do everything to make sure she heals, from her ordeal, from any problems, from her demons. She just doesn’t want to be any problem for him, or anyone else. This book deals with some heavy subjects, not just what happened to Fiona, but the aftermath from that. It is done in a factual way that still allows you to feel the pain, and hurt, and anguish, and determination of the characters. Fiona and Cookie get their HEA, a well deserved happiness after a hard fought battle <3

This book is a little darker than the others. This book deals with some very serious issues. It is about a woman who was kidnapped and held as a sex slave south of the border. She was repeatedly raped and abused. NOW, with that being said, I don't understand some of the other reviews. This is a book, a story. Nothing more, nothing less. It is NOT a self help book and it is NOT a therapeutical book of any kind. This is just a story of a seal who went on 1 mission and it changed (mid mission), into a different mission. I feel that the seal did a good job of wanting to help this woman and actually did a good job of helping this woman. I cried through it and I cheered through it. I thought it was a good book, so I hope this helps since there is a lot of opinions about this book.
