About this ebook

I always knew I was different.

From a young age, my mind has been plagued with things only I could see. Some hauntingly beautiful, others completely terrifying. Never knowing if these visions were real or just hallucinations, I learned how to lock them down and ignore them. I learned to take solace in the relative anonymity of city life and find peace in the rainy days my city of Seattle is known for.

But just when I think my life is getting on track and my dreams are achievable, a moment of weakness causes me to learn a hard and fast lesson.

My entire existence has been a lie.

Now I’m faced with a new reality that’s as implausible as it is fantastical. Filled with realms and veils, light and dark, fae and daemons, gods and angels—things I don’t understand but am forced to acknowledge. It doesn’t help that the man teaching me about my unique gifts is the gorgeously handsome Carrick Byrne, one of Seattle’s richest and most powerful men. He intimidates, annoys, and intrigues me all at the same time. I don’t trust him and yet there’s no one else to help me.

No longer certain who to put my faith in, what to believe, or how I fit into it all, one revelation is clear…

The world as I know it will never be the same again.

The Revelation of Light and Dark is book one of the Chronicles of the Stone Veil series and is best enjoyed if read in series order.

The Revelation of Light and Dark is a paranormal book and I'm not a big fan of this genre but because it is Sawyer I gave it a chance and I'm glad I did. I don't know how to leave my typical book review without giving away part of the plot or just repeating what the blurb says. But here is what I can tell you. I absolutely could not put this book down!!! It was that good. I was trying to savor it some since I knew there was a few weeks in between the books but that didn't last long. The depths of the characters is amazing. The characters continue to grow throughout the book. A major turn off was that there was a lot of unnecessary details. To what people where, to how the room looks, etc. At first I was trying to remember everything thinking it would be important to the story but it wasn't. I found it a little distracting. The cliffhanger is a killer. OMG! Seriously! you will not see if coming!!! This is a must read book. Give it a chance. You have nothing to lose.

Finley seems to include the reader in her circle of friends and we get to know about her life. She has a lot to share so the story will take time to develop – patience is needed here. Carrick is on a quest but needs help in order to achieve an answer or is it a solution. Finley seems to be the main player in this piece and Carrick seems to be our guide. We’ll meet a couple of people in his circle that are there to help Finley and give us a little understanding into what is going on. One of those people has something profound to tell her and I hope you will notice it and realize how true it is – even though this is a work of fiction. This story shows that there seems to be a fine line between what we see and the unexplained. And in our current world that is so true. You know how creative an author is when they can get very descriptive about an object. Its like it’s another character and we need to be able to picture exactly what it looks like. It also shows how much thought the author has put into developing her story. We have a story that I’ve never experienced from Ms. Bennett. I found it to be a pleasant surprise. Leaving me in limbo was frustrating but knowing that her next book is coming out soon makes the wait a little easier to take. I’m interested to see where this series is going. If you’re expecting heat and romance that you’ve come to expect from her, you will not find that here. This is an adventurous fantasy. I was not compensated nor was I required to write a positive review. The opinions I have expressed are my own.

I have never been much of a paranormal reader, but when I found out that Sawyer Bennett was going to be releasing a paranormal series, if there ever was a time I was going to try the genre, it would be now. She's one of my favorite authors and she didn't disappoint as we ventured into this new world. Finley Porter is a 27 year-old who lives in her childhood home with three roommates and she works at One Bean Coffee House. She has a twin sister, Fallon, and has always been a little different, so much so that her family thought she had serious medical issues. When she meets a man at her sister's gallery event, he might just end up changing her whole world. Carrick Byrne is one of the richest men in Seattle. He owns many businesses and is one of the who's who in the city. He can be charming, standoffish, cold and mysterious. When he first meets Finley there is no love lost between the two of them. His dislike of her is evident immediately, however he realizes something deeper may exist and he's forced to get to know her. With the gift that Finley has, she quickly learns that Carrick holds the key to many of the answers she's been seeking for years. She doesn't understand why she can see and feel certain things and she isn't even totally sure who or what Carrick is! As the story unfolds questions get answered, but as they do, more emerge. There still is so much ground to cover and so much to learn about the fae and daemons as well as realms I'm sure we haven't heard about yet! I'm ready to continue on with this series to see what happens with Finley and Carrick! This is a series you'll want to read in order. Also, there is a novella The Clash of Yesterday, that helps to set the scene for some of what you read in this book.
