Rating: 4.5 Stars This time Finley starts the reader off right where the first book left off – series must be read in order. In her latest story, we seem to be along for the ride. She has a spunkiness that builds as our adventure goes on. Like you or I might be, there’s also an apprehension that she voices to Carrick. Finley seems to be a hero in training. One thing that hasn’t changed is that Finley seems to be the main player of the piece. She seems to have a bigger voice than Carrick and that just might be done that way on purpose. I feel like I need to listen to a strong piece of music like Ravel’s Bolero because it felt the perfect fit to the way this story flows. Right now, I can’t figure out if Carrick is the Maestro or one of the musicians. This is a great fantasy, action and adventure, that blends well with the world we currently live in. Our heroine is surrounded by men who seem to know more than her, a lot of that may true but she’s showing much strength up against something she never knew about. Our author has created a series that showcases her talent. Her creativity is off the charts. And just like her first book, she’s left me in a limbo where I’m left on the edge of my seat because now, I have to wait for the next book to find out what happens. This series is positively addictive! A Discovery of Secrets and Fate picks up right were the previous novel left off so be prepared to hit the ground running and enjoy everything this book has to offer! This author continues to create a fantastical masterpiece that is full of mystical creatures, an compelling storyline, enchanting characters, heart pounding action, and surprising revelations. Finley is really starting to come into her own. After a series of life altering experiences and events, she is starting to process all of these changes and must learn to adapt and even grow. She has a remarkable inner strength to her and sometimes makes some unwise decisions, but it is a part of what makes her character so real. While Carrick remains a bit of a mystery, some of his secrets are revealed which made him become even more intriguing to me. I am reveling in the ever evolving dynamic between Carrick and Finley! The creative world building within these pages is spellbinding. The story is vastly enriched with the author’s detailed description of characters as well as the magical land of Faire. I especially appreciate her unique take on all things Fae, demons, gods, and so forth thus making it a truly unique read. A Discovery of Secrets and Fate is the second book of The Chronicles of the Stone Veil series and it is not a standalone. It does end spectacularly on a cliffhanger so I am desperately awaiting to see what happens next!

4.5 Stars for A Discovery of Secrets and Fate ( Chronicles of the Stone Veil #2) I need to firstly say please read book one The Revelation of Light and Dark before picking this one up as this book continues right where that one finished. This is the continuation of Finlay Porter and Carrick Byrne’s journey and it’s a journey that will keep you on the edge of your seat as they travel to Faere for information and answers Finlay is demanding. Finlay’s world has been turned upside down and her emotions are all over the place as she struggles to understand the prophecy and she needs to know where she fits into this world. In this book we get to see Finlay and Carrick bond whilst searching for the answers Finlay demands but it’s when they get back to earth that you see this couple have develop feelings for each other. I’m the first to admit I’m not usually drawn to fantasy or paranormal but this series has taken over my life and if I’m totally honest I have been blown away by the writing and the characters. This book also ends on a cliff hanger and I really can’t wait to pick up book 3 and continue this wonderful journey. This series should certainly be on all fantasy/ paranormal lovers TBR list.
