A very promising setup for the story ahead. Fantastic art, good character introductions, and some mysteries, big and small, yet to be explained. There are a few very minor quibbles here: some dialogue is slightly heavy-handed, the issue is mostly just exposition, Clayface is still a bit of a question mark as to why he's on the team (though his introduction scene is one of the issue's highlights), and the villain seems rather bland, but these are outweighed by everything else. As a #1 for all practical purposes, it does what it needs to do, and is a bright start to a new era of Detective Comics. Looking forward to seeing where this story goes!

This is a good time to get into Detective Comics with a new story and a new team learning how to work together, something even Batman admits is not his strong suit. Clayface as a hero, wonder if it lasts. Recommend reading.
