Now that we're past the setup phase of this new run, things are off to a very fast start! Possibly too fast; this issue seems like it's covering too much ground, but at the same time none of the scenes feel extraneous. And just speaking personally, I'd rather read something that moves too fast than something that slogs along, so this is a minor complaint. The character interactions in this issue are great. Batwoman's relationship with the trainees is rocky right now, as it should be, but it feels very organic to the situation, and not forced; she's being a harsh taskmaster and they kind of resent it, but no one's getting into screaming matches or being overly dramatic. It feels very natural and appropriate, and for a team book this sort of initial uneasiness between everyone is welcome. Tim has good scenes with Bruce and Steph, and Kate also has a good scene with her father. There are again some hints that Batman knows more than he's telling the team, and the mystery surrounding it is intriguing. Another very good issue in this series!
