About this ebook

"One of the best fantasy book series of the past decade." -Time Magazine

When magic has gone from the world and a vicious king rules from his throne of glass, an assassin is summoned to the castle. She is a prisoner, but if she can defeat twenty-three killers, thieves, and warriors in a competition, she will become the King's Champion and earn her freedom. But the evil she encounters in the castle goes deep, and as dark forces gather on the horizon-forces that threaten to destroy her entire world-the assassin must take her place in a fight greater than she could ever have imagined.

Experience the epic, heart-stopping fantasy series that has turned #1 New York Times bestselling author Sarah J. Maas into a worldwide phenomenon. This ebook bundle contains the whole Throne of Glass series: Throne of Glass, Crown of Midnight, Heir of Fire, Queen of Shadows, Empire of Storms, Tower of Dawn, the thrilling finale Kingdom of Ash, and the companion anthology The Assassin's Blade.

TLDR: Inconsistent pace filled with plot holes and deus ex machina saves. Frustrating main character that is somewhat alleviated by some of the side characters. Small spoilers below: The villains are clueless idiots who are merely backdrops for the premise. They monologue constantly and make the same mistakes every book. One or two times, sure why not, but multiple times in every book is overdone. This problematic formula makes the protags appear inept even when they are victorious. Nearly everyone is clueless when it matters unless Caelena pulls out an 'unexpected' win because 'reasons.' Achievements by the protags feel cheap and unearned. Character growth is minimal. Magics and abilities are introduced and only used as the plot demands and then quickly forgotten. All of these could be overlooked as one-off issues, but their repetition becomes glaring. If you can get past these issues, you may enjoy it, but I was decidedly nonplussed by the end.

The buzz around this book is misleading, it is in no terms a good read or in league with other pieces of fantasy that hold weight in the genre. Certainly the world that is built becomes interesting, by the end of book 4, but the trudge through books 1-3 is hardly worth it. Our MC is a world renowned assassin who has mastered countless skills through years of tedious and harrowing practice, but screams in rage at a game of billiards when it isnt immediately easy. The characters in this series are painfully inconsistent and the world building painfully slow. I stopped reading after book 4 and the relief of not having to continue through the next 4 books was massive.

best series I've ever read!!! great character development. well built world. Maas has the ability to reach into your heart, mind, and soul to make you soar in the stats or fall to your knees broken hearted at her will with relatable characters and fantastic storytelling. If you don't know what a "book hangover" is, read this series!
