Another great book by Nick Smith! Another great book by Nick Smith, one of my top favorite authors. This is a story about bad government (which I love), mutants (who doesn't love mutants) and the end of the world as we know it (always a winner). I enjoyed the characters and they seemed genuine to me. Of course there is the budding romance and i'm sure book two (hint) will further develop this. I would have liked a little more back story about the bad government scientist but maybe that's a prequel. I'm definitely looking forward to book 2! Keep up the great work Nick!

A book that revisits the over saturated market of zombies and apocalypses, but with a scientific edge that creates the origins of the outbreak in a more believable light. Told from the perspectives of a scientist who is morally petrified by the results of the outbreak and its creators, and alternatively from the view of Team Ghost as it navigates against a threat more lethal than their once human opposition, the story goes to lengths to not just envelop each character with their cliche morales and personalities, but brings them to life and keeps them human. The brisk pace keeps the story from becoming a bore of details, and scenes are depicted with brutality and the constantly looming mortality of the situation. A great read for science fiction and action junkies, and people still invested in the zombie craze alike.

I enjoyed the series very much. The story and characters are very simple. This is military syfy horror fiction, so it was very patriotic and supportive of the military. Which is fine, but it's laid on VERY thick. It's practically shouting AMERICA! NAVY SEALS ARE AWESOME! AMERICAN MILTARY ARE THE GOOD GUYS! The characters literally say this!! Then there are the plot holes and logical errors. which is why I gave it 4 stars. it kinda annoyed me. Like, Dr. Kate will discover something and explain it. The soldiers will listen and understand, then act as though she didn't say anything! Then people die and they go," We should've listened to Kate!" wash rinse repeat. That's the best way that I can explain it without too many spoilers.
