About this ebook

The third book in USA Today bestselling author Nicholas Sansbury Smith's propulsive post-apocalyptic series about one man's mission to save the world.
Humans are losing the war. Master Sergeant Reed Beckham and the survivors of 1st Platoon must battle through the tunnels -- where they make a grisly discovery.

Dr. Kate Lovato is working on a new bioweapon to destroy the Variants when a derelict Navy Destroyer crashes into the Connecticut shoreline carrying yet another threat.

As the doomsday clock ticks down and military bases fall across the country, the human race enters the age of extinction. Will they prevail -- or will mankind vanish off the face of the planet?

In the fight for humanity, one final hope remains. . .

Couldn't put it down! Mr. Smith delivers yet another exciting third book In the Extinction Cycle series. The variants are learning and keeping our heroes on their toes. It kept me on the edge of my seat as Reed continues his fight with the variants while Kate works on developing a weapon to fight them. I cringed each time Reed left the island fearing for the worst. I don't understand how he manages to do what he does. I only hope someone like him is with me during the apocalypse! Some people got their just rewards spectacularly which was very satisfactory. We also lose some secondary characters which was sad but my favorites survived another round...but for how long. It will be interesting to see the final version of Kate's weapon and I wonder if it will leave yet another smaller subset of variants - super variants. I think this book is the calm before the storm and I can't wait to read the fourth book! I highly recommend Extinction Age along with all the other books by Mr. Smith!

He’s done it again! Each time I think there’s no way Nicholas Smith can outdo the previous story in his awesome series, he proves me wrong. As the Variants continue to evolve, little glimmers of hope for mankind dwindle. Of the three books I've read so far, this is certainly the darkest and most visceral. I was holding my breath, worried that he might kill off Fitz or Apollo. The author has an exceptional gift for storytelling combined with some of the strongest characterization I've ever read. Bravo!
