About this ebook

The storm of the century is about to hit Little Bridge Island, Florida—and it’s sending waves crashing through Sabrina “Bree” Beckham’s love life…

When a massive hurricane severs all power and cell service to Little Bridge Island—as well as its connection to the mainland—twenty-five-year-old Bree Beckham isn’t worried . . . at first. She’s already escaped one storm—her emotionally abusive ex—so a hurricane seems like it will be a piece of cake.

But animal-loving Bree does become alarmed when she realizes how many islanders have been cut off from their beloved pets. Now it’s up to her to save as many of Little Bridge’s cats and dogs as she can . . . but to do so, she’s going to need help—help she has no choice but to accept from her boss’s sexy nephew, Drew Hartwell, the Mermaid Café’s most notorious heartbreaker.

But when Bree starts falling for Drew, just as Little Bridge’s power is restored and her penitent ex shows up, she has to ask herself if her island fling was only a result of the stormy weather, or if it could last during clear skies too.

Bree came to Little Bridge Island on a whim, after having no one in her life take her “side’ when her ex’s best friend made improper moves on her, and everyone passed it off as “one of those things” and told her not to overreact. Traumatized by his acts and the lack of support from her family and friends, she’s abandoned her place in law school, headed south and has been working as a waitress in the local café. But there’s a hurricane coming and Bree, despite all the pressure to evacuate and leave, along with several calls from her mother and her ex, has decided to stay. She’s concerned about Gary her cat, newly toothless due to disease, and not wanting to be told what to do. In some ways, Bree is acting like a teenager in a fit of pique, and while she’s unprepared for the reality of the difficulties she’ll face, there are plenty of people staying and offering her a place to be. Yet, all of these people come with a bit of history for Bree – her boss and his wife insist that she stay with them – Gary included. Her roommate is still trying to convince her to come up and stay with her where the hospital staff have been located, her landlady has made arrangements for her son’s guinea pigs, and Bree is simply thinking that with her scooter she’ll be fine to move about. But the house also comes with her boss’ nephew Drew – the one person who sets Bree’s teeth on edge and insists on telling her what she’s doing wrong. Cabot gave us Bree – with her secrets and her determination to make a place for herself on Little Bridge Island, and with a bit of help from her famous mother (and yes – her secret is out) she’s also able to start a ‘rescue’ service for pets left behind, with people assuming they’d only be off island for a day or two -but the hurricane had other ideas. And the attraction between Bree and Drew heats up, along with his collection of dogs all named Bob, and the other characters who band together to make a difference, most of all in Bree’s recognition of her strength and determination, the story brings two people together in ways expected and not: and leaving everyone with a smile. I received an eArc copy of the title from the publisher via Edelweiss for purpose of honest review. I was not compensated for this review: all conclusions are my own responsibility.
