What a neat little cookbook! I have lots of mason jars since I do a lot of canning. Therefore, this book appealed to me. I never thought about cooking in them or using them to prepare meals. This book mainly provides salad and salad dressing recipes, but it does offer some breakfast, hot dishes, and dessert ideas as well. I found the introduction really insightful and the chapter on layering very informative. It even provided some pictures of a few of the recipes. Not as many as I would have liked, but I was glad to see some. So if you are a salad/salad dressing lover, you will love this cookbook!

This book incorporated several things that I like, such as cooking and planning ahead. My wife loves to can for the winter so I have plenty of Mason jars around. Mainly she cans pickles, which I love, so most of my jars are quart jars. This book has a lot of salad recipes, and I don't eat salad, so those weren't the most helpful to me, I just passed those recipes on to my wife, because she does eat salad. The recipes such as the chicken pot pie I really liked, and this book also brought some other ideas to my mind to use. I had never thought of using a Mason jar as a lunch box before, but it is because you can keep reusing it. I found this book to be very useful.

Lunchtime whether at work, school or home can get boring. You drool while your co-workers go out to the nearest fast food place. No more as you become the envy of your co-workers with hot or cold delicious meals in of all things a Mason jar! We’ve all seen Mason jars and I know I don’t do canning but have always thought there has to be more uses than canning and crafts. Yes canning jars can be very versatile and since made of glass is healthier for you too. This little book shows us how to make recipes that are quick and easy to do in Mason jars. I love how you can have hot or cold meals for breakfast and lunch and that some can be made a week ahead of time too. By placing dressing on the bottom you can have your salads all ready to go making it convenient for lunch. The recipes are amazing from salads, pot pies and even lasagna that are more than delicious. The pictures are beautiful giving us a bright colorful visual of what your food will look like. I hope you can tell I am excited to have found this unique book because I truly am! No more whines from family about boring lunches. Say goodbye to boredom and let your imagination soar with these clever Mason jar recipes!
