Ratings and reviews

Absolutely hands down the most disgusting book I have ever read. The author is either demonic or mentally disturbed. I do not recommend this book to anybody. Especially not to young people. Absolutely nothing enjoyable in this book. Unless you like reading about slaughtering babies. Or killing mothers with their children while giving their child a last kiss. I think Charles Manson will appreciate his drivel. I certainly do not. Utter rubbish.

I've read a lot of fantasy. This does fall into the anti-hero/dark column. Nothing wrong with that. Problem is the characters are uninteresting. The writing is not engaging... actually I just found the writing bad in general. I finished the book just to make sure it didn't get any better toward the end. It didn't. It has been a couple months so I can't bring up some of the examples of what specifically was bad about the writing. However the memory of how little I liked it remains.

It was a good read, but the quick changes distort the connection you have with each character. 'Paladins' had a good balance, but this seems a bit haphazard. Love the story, but hoping the style evolves a bit through the next book.
