The plot, all the twists and turns was executed beautifully. I loved the struggle between who and what she is and who she could ultimately be. The character was relatable because we all rarely open up ourselves for people to see what we are truly like and capable of as well trying to avoid getting hurt emotionally by people we are sure not to trust but end up trusting anyway.

I finished the series with a smile, which is so much better than I can say for many other works I've invested my time in. There's a lot going on in this series, and the finale doesn't slow down - if anything it's pedal-to-the-metal for a fair portion. Still, a lot of character development comes to fruition here, and my frustration levels at Ava's youthful arrogance get some relief at last. I think it's reasonable to give this book one of my rare five stars - and more tellingly I'm off to buy more of Miss Farrell's work, I really enjoy her characters. M

I an on my way... reading every novel by Claire and I am never disappointed. I couldn't believe so many of her books are currently available for free on Google Books.... I have literally binge- read her stuff. Never a dull moment. Packed with detail and action. These stories are so vivid and I highly recommend to anyone into fantasy.
