About this ebook

It’s been months since Ava fooled the British vampires and dealt with Becca for good, but although life has been easier, it’s not without its problems. Her deal with the twins is physically harming her, Peter’s grasp on his sanity is tentative to say the least, Carl is struggling, and Esther is losing her edge.

Ava’s been asking too many questions in an attempt to fulfil her various deals, but her persistence turns out to be the biggest problem. She’s not the only one asking questions, but somebody wants her to stop, and finding out who’s in charge is a lot harder than taking care of her new houseguest.

To survive, on her own terms, Ava must take control of her own destiny for a change. That might involve swallowing her pride and accepting help from those she doesn’t trust because there are new foes on the horizon, and the number of people needing her protection keeps on increasing.

Very fun read, keeping track of everything in Ava's life is not near as hard for the reader as it is on Ava herself. I get a real sense of the angry young woman / emerging warrior / reluctant leader from this book and am enjoying seeing some plots come to light even as others taunt from the shadows. 4 stars only because I rarely give 5's.

This series is dangerously addictive! Don't start the first one if you're not ready to be sucked into Ava Delaney 's world. And be prepared to stay a good long while. Right up there with Kim Harrison and the Hollows series, or Charlaine Harris and True Blood. Seriously, I can't put one down once I start.

I loved the Perdita series. Loved but ended up hating the fae series. So I'm glad this series is staying good like Perdita's. This heroine is growing and improving instead of the fae series heroine who didn't grow in fact she regressed in my opinion. There's darkness in this series but not too much. I can stick with this series.
