Rachel begs her boss to let her search for Alex Finch, but he refuses. Then she asks to be put on two weeks leave. Her partner gets put on a case involving people who are being murdered who have medical conditions leaving them with a short time to live. He stops by to tell Rachel about the case, and she begs him to let her help off the record. They find several suspects, but each proves to be a dead end. Couldn't put this one down! The ending leaves me waiting for the next book! Thanks, Blake!

Rachel still is very much divided between her personal life and career. She wants to be home for Paige and her grandma but the case she has a chance to work on the fringes is calling more and more of her attention. Terminally ill patients are being killed and all leads although pursued are cold. She also is finding some reward in talking with others who are undergoing the same diagnosis she has and her attention to treatment might change. The ending left me wanting to know what will come next!

Not my favorite Blake Pierce series. Difficult to believe the main character could continue functioning with the complications of a glioblastoma. A little selfish that she would choose to continue working rather than spend the time she has left with her husband and child.
