3.5 stars. It could have been 4 stars, but the story dragged on. It was more about two people in their 30s at a crossroads in their lives than it was romance. It was interesting that the author tackled what it is like when your plans for yourself, in anticipation of an empty nest, gets sidelined. Owen was looking forward to doing things that he was not able to do when he became a teenaged father and then guardian to his four younger brothers, shortly after that. Now when his daughter should be moving out, she tells him she is pregnant, at 18. Kerry is a midwife who has not thought about having her own baby, until now. Her biological clock is ticking. The author introduces Owen's four brothers and touches on their background. So many other things goes occur that it takes away from the romance. In the end, we don't know what the couple does tosolve their major issue. They only talked abou their options. Perhaps the only way to find out is to sign up for a newsletter to get an extra epilogue.

Loved this slow burn small town romance. The setting, characters and the storyline are realistic and relatable, not only focusing on the relationship between Owen and Kerry, but also between Owen and his brothers and his daughter. As a Canadian I particularly enjoyed the references to familiar places. Looking forward to reading more from this series.

ARC for honest review with no compensation Reckless at Heart is book 1 in the Kincaid of Pine Harbour series by Zoe York and totally not what I was expecting...but oh so good! Owen Kincaid became a father at eighteen, married now divorced, looking forward to being a bachelor after his daughter, Becca graduates in a few months and goes off to college except...the words he hears are not “I been excepted” but “Daddy, I’m pregnant”...history repeating itself, but when he meets her mid-wife Kerry sparks fly... Kerry Humphrey, mid-wife take on new client Becca but what she doesn’t expect is a hovering, grumpy and all to attractive father and while sparks fly between Kerry and Owen he is off limits to her until after Becca is no longer in her care. Such true to life story, responsibilities, decisions, chemistry and life changing experiences are just part of what happens in this book...
