This book in the Dawn of the Dragons series is such a fun story. Yes, there's some heavy stuff, with the whole idea that Nate must choose between his reincarnated brothers and his growing attracting to Chloe, and another event that I'm not going to spoil. But I wasn't prepared for the excellent injections of humor. Nate's internal dialog had me laughing out loud on more than one occasion. Did I mention that I loved Nate? In the first scene, when he shows up in his Navy whites I pictured a young Jon Bon Jovi - I think "Pete Emmett" was his character in the movie U-571. I liked Astrid, and some of the very endearing scenes between her and her family. Chloe and Saul seem like fun parents. I also loved the dynamic relationships of all the dragons. And Nate's brotherhood was multi-layered and fascinating. The plot was both deep and lighthearted, if it is a nod to Romeo and Juliette, just know it is NOT a tragedy - although there was at least one... Well. No spoilers. You'll have to read it. It was layered enough that I did not figure out what was really going on until right before the reveal, and it's safe to say it kept me guessing much of the way. And yes, there is some classic Savage spice to this story. One scene was told from a particular POV that I just loved. I can't say more without it being a spoiler, but just be prepared to sit back and enjoy. So, let me sum up: Fun read with a great plot, totally worth reading - but in my opinion, you will want to have read the other books in the series, first. They just keep getting better and better. (The world building has grown so much since the first book - which was originally intended to be a one-off. If you have even the slightest enjoyment of Loved by the Dragon, know that these books get better with each story. Every one that comes out I think, no THIS ONE is my favorite...)

I got this third book in the series free in exchange for an honest review. This is the continuation of a great world and it can be read as a standalone with no cliffhanger ending, it is the whole story. Be warned though you will not want to stop with just this one book and you will want to know the whole series. The book moves at a good pace and keeps you interested. This is the authors take on a dragon version of Romeo and Juliet. Astrid is a child that is a result of a union between a Dragon and a Human and is the firstborn child. She has been brought up knowing that love can take all kinds of forms and she is basically knocked on her rear when she falls for a Navy man in a coffee shop. But this Navy man, Nathaniel is more than meets the eye and who is really is can mean death and destruction to all that Astrid holds dear. Nathaniel is in fact the reincarnation of Sir Galahad who was a Knight of the Round Table of King Arthur. Despite the fact he has few memories of his previous life he is reborn generation after generation in order to fulfill a sacred oath they made during their first life, to kill dragons. He is given order to investigate on behalf of the Knights and he ends up meeting Astrid and falling for her as much as she fell for him. The problem is that he has been taught, over numerous lives, that dragons are monsters and need to be wiped out no matter where they hide. How can he equate that description to the beautiful and compassionate half dragon that he is losing his heart to? Will he end up betraying Astrid and her family or will he end up turning his back on his Knight brothers who he has worked with for centuries? I love how we are able to see the progression of the older love stories, see this story unfold, and also meet new characters and see the possibility of more matches in the future. The author takes you on yet another joyride through their world of dragons and all you can do is sit down, shut up, and enjoy the ride. I highly enjoyed this book and I love everything that she writes!!

So far this is the best Dragon series i have read ..i love the history and magic in the story. I am looking forward to the next in the series.
