I've read both volumes and absolutely loved this story. I'm a trans guy too, it all felt very relatable and the magical genre was awesomely done. Some dark moments but there's a lot of light too ;) after finishing volume 2 my heart is filled to the brim <3 ..I wanna see this animated so bad haha. totally worth the buy!

This graphic novel is very sensitive and sweet, I love the way the characters interact and how Max deal with everything!

I love this take on the magical girl genre. It's fun and opens a door for more. I hope this is a long series.

About the author

The Kao is Vincent Kao, an illustrator and comic artist known for his slice-of-life web series, Mondo Mango, and the Prism Award-winning webcomic, Magical Boy - both original series available at Tapas. Vincent graduated from Columbia College in Chicago with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Illustration. He started his career through a series of comic strips surrounding his daily life and since then has freelanced, self-published, as well as collaborated in a few crowdfunded comic anthologies, all under "The Kao" name.
