This was my first Skye Warren book and I was pleasantly surprised. A lot of the books I have read recently have weird run-on sentences, incomplete sentences, bad syntax, misspelled words or just the wrong word used. I don't know whether to blame the authors or the editors. This book was beautifully written and a sheer pleasure to read! While I couldn't relate to the trials and tribulations of millionaires I could absolutely appreciate the attraction between Harper and Christopher. And (spoiler alert) even though I understand that their relationship seems doomed, I still look forward to the next two books in this series.

As a stand-alone story, this is too incomplete to amount to much, BUT as a prologue (it's stated purpose) the author has hit the nail on the head. This haunting tale is one of the most compelling promises of "more to come" I've read in the self-published field ever. Were I editor, I'd recommend excising the fluff before the exhibition and using it as a "trailer" for the book to come. It would be breathtaking, forcing the reader to turn the next page. Warren is a writer of excellent promise.

Granted, this is well-written, has nicely developed characters and has some interesting qualities, but not enough to overcome my intense displeasure of cliffhangers. Just buy Survival of the Richest, if it appeals to your tastes, rather than waste time on this.
