Winner: 2022 Hugo Award for Best Series

A stand-alone fantasy tale from Seanan McGuire's Alex award-winning Wayward Children series, which began in the
Alex, Hugo, Nebula, and Locus Award-winning, World Fantasy Award finalist, Tiptree Honor List Every Heart a Doorway

This fourth entry and prequel tells the story of Lundy, a very serious young girl who would rather study and dream than become a respectable housewife and live up to the expectations of the world around her. As well she should.

When she finds a doorway to a world founded on logic and reason, riddles and lies, she thinks she's found her paradise. Alas, everything costs at the goblin market, and when her time there is drawing to a close, she makes the kind of bargain that never plays out well.

This was very much a treat. A dark, atomic, horrific and delicious treat! I preferred this book to the last one of the series and can't wait to see what's next. I'm a Toby fan as well and these may be a close second by 4 books into the series as well. Thanks to the author for such vivid storytelling and world building, if there was a Not Hollywood Tours Of Famous Doors I would be first in line!

This is was a really good book! I am really excited for the next one to come out next year. A lot of interesting thoughts around growing up, different stages of childhood, and fairness. Enjoyable quick read.

This one just breaks my heart! I love Lundy so much and I can totally relate to her dilemma in this book. I love Lundy and I understand so much about her from reading her book. Of all of the worlds we've glimpsed so far in the series, I think this is the most interesting. This is a book that I have to sit with for a minute before moving on because it's so good.
