About this ebook

Jack Walcott was only twelve years old when she and her twin sister Jill, descended the impossible staircase and found herself in the Moors, a world of drowned gods and repugnant royals.

After abandoning her sister to a vampire lord, and under the tutelage of a mad scientist who can do impossible things with flesh and living lightning, Jack quickly learns that in the Moors, death is merely a suggestion.

I'm only 2 pages in and I've been compelled to open my wallet and buy the full book, because I'm hooked, caught, snared… All the wit and clever wordplay I expect from Seanan McGuire, an author I've come to love and look forward to. It's only 30 pages, but within the first 2 I've already encountered: an interesting narrator whose personality leaps into your mind; amusing little asides buried throughout; the tease of a dark and sinister world filled with magic and science. Plus, what's not to love about the idea of an infinite staircase tucked …just… inside your closet, leading to another world? BRB, I'm gonna go check all the closets in my house, just to make sure. Hopefully I find more than just another furry blue monster like last time…

About the author

SEANAN McGUIRE is the author of the Hugo, Nebula, Alex, and Locus Award–winning Wayward Children series; the October Daye series; the InCryptid series; the delightfully dark Middlegame; and other works. She also writes comics for Marvel, darker fiction as Mira Grant, and younger fiction as A. Deborah Baker. Seanan lives in Seattle with her cats, a vast collection of creepy dolls, horror movies, and sufficient books to qualify her as a fire hazard. She won the 2010 John W. Campbell Award for Best New Writer, and in 2013 became the first person to appear five times on the same Hugo ballot.
