About this ebook

In this explosive New York Times bestselling thriller, a New York City-based book editor travels to a Southern island to meet a mysterious author -- but she's about to uncover a shocking truth about a carefully concealed crime.
Maris Matherly-Reed is a renowned New York book editor, the daughter of a publisher and the wife of a bestselling author. It's rare for an unsolicited manuscript to pique her interest, but a new submission with blockbuster potential inspires her to search for the book's elusive author.
On an obscure island off the Georgia coast, amidst the ruins of an eerie cotton plantation, Maris finds Parker Evans, a writer determined to conceal his identity as well as his past. Maris is riveted by his tale of two friends who charter a boat with a young woman for a night of revelry . . . an excursion from which only one person returns.
Working with Parker chapter by chapter, Maris becomes increasingly convinced that his story is based on real-life events. Disturbed by this realization -- and her growing attraction to Parker -- she searches for clues relating to a crime that was committed long ago. When someone close to Maris suddenly dies, an evil presence looms even closer: a man who will use anything -- and anyone -- to get what he wants . . .

Sorry to have to say that I found the beginning chapter far better written than the rest of the book. I simply can not see Maris, a high society lady, raised in a culture of manners and silver spoons, professional that she is, and let's not forget, deeply in love with her husband, so easily allowing and even accepting, PME using such foul language when speaking (flirting with) to her. As to Nadia with her "hundreds of past lovers". Really???? I guessing a woman who has had 100's of past lovers is going to look like a woman who has been screwed by that many men and therefore not be very attractive to anyone. Having grown up in the heat and humidity of Georgia, I don't think in less than a week, New York girl Maris is going to adjust to and come to love the sweltering heat so quickly. I was hoping for a good mystery with a touch of romance but what I got was a mystery swamped and ruined by the authors "none to real" people and her attempt to write a hip, hot romance.

I have read quite a few of Sandra Brown's books. I am never left unhappy and "Envy" is no exception. Definitely worth reading!

this book is gripping from the very beginning of page one. I have not found one of her books to be bad. This book unravels a murderous plot of revenge and secret agendas Pick u[p this book and you will read it one day if you enjoy reading as much as myself. I look forward to the next Sandra Brown novel and I wish she makes a series out of these characters.
