This book design is well done. The presentation is simple and flawless. The publisher deserves a round of applause. The Illustrations are well done and integrated to show the highlights of the introductory to who Dora is and what goes on in her world. The technology for social aspect of the characters meeting others within their journey and going the adventure is age appropriate and a good reminder to keeping stories grounded, as we have fun. The story its self uses the classic tales of well know producers in the film industry as reference points, which is all fine. As a reader, I felt like I was selling commercials to my family. But the negative aspect was we didn't feel like we heard a story. We felt like we had the house tour of the studio lot. I felt it did a small injustice to the great tales and to this new character. The audience, didn't really understand the actual story when I asked them after the reading, for their thoughts about the story. (None of remembered Kate until we looked at the book cover again). My opinion was that everything was going good until we visited another story, which handed us off every time we left the page and left us confused. I couldn't give the book the full rating because it fell just short of the ticker tape. Over all we liked Dora. She's appropriate, charming, polite, energetic and dynamic. She has all the qualities of a star. We will still check in her work from time to time.

Good Dora book. Disappointed because it's listed as "Read-Along" yet does NOT have sound. My daughter's & I have daily reading time together, but I specifically got this book for my 5yo to "read" in the car when I'm stuck in traffic & unable to help her. I'd much rather she practice reading in the car than watch a movie or play a video game, so this was a BIG let down. If a book is NOT "Read-Along", please don't list it as one. We enjoyed reading this book; however, we were unable to use it as I'd intended.
