About this ebook

Kate O'Brien's quiet life in small-town Shelter Cove, Arkansas is shaken when her past suddenly comes roaring back to life. Four years ago, she and her twin sister were attacked by an elusive serial killer. Only Kate survived, and she's been in witness protection ever since.

When new evidence arises to suggest the convicted man wasn't the murderer, she's subpoenaed to testify in the new trial. Afraid to go back into that world, Kate only agrees if Tony DeLuca, the deputy Marshal who protected her during the original trial, escorts her to St. Louis.

Tony readily takes on the assignment; Kate's beauty and inner strength made more of an impression on him than he expected. But when Kate's safety is threatened, Tony must race against the clock to keep her alive and put this ugly case to rest before anyone else gets killed.

This is book two in the Defenders of Justice Series, however it is a stand alone book. This novel is full of mystery, murder, suspense and a dash of romance. If you like FBI/Marshal mysteries you will enjoy this one. There is more than one scene taking place and it jumps from one place to another quickly, however you catch on pretty quick and it all comes together eventually. There are many twist and turns, some things you may not figure out before it is actually revealed. Kate O'Brien is just trying to forget the past and move toward the future, but that does not seem to be possible.Tony DuLuca want to protect Kate and keep his feelings for her professional. When his "easy" task to escort her back to St. Louse turns into anything but "easy" will they be able to survive, find a killer and have a chance at love?

Great story line and characters. I especially liked the lead characters but the supporting ones were equally interesting. The story was around a serial killer and showed how aweful this person is but not to the point I didnt want the information in my head. Great threads of how different people are at different places with their own personal relationship with Christ. Finally a nice love story. At times i would get a bit lost in the story but it may have been my schedule and putting the book down for a bit and then starting again or could actually be the story. Overall good book, liked the story line and characters.
