Any important information form the previous story lines is revealed where necessary. Told from dual third person perspectives (Brett and Sophie) BRETT: Bad Boys After Dark follows the building romance between security specialist Brett Bad, and his brother Mick’s legal assistant Sophie Roberts. For months Brett has been secretly pining after Sophie Roberts but our hero doesn’t do relationships, a one night stand kinda man but a man who is haunted by memories of the past. Believing himself not worthy of love, Brett will push away the woman with whom he is falling in love in the hopes of not repeating the disaster that was his parent’s relationship. What ensues is Brett’s pursuit of Sophie Roberts, and the potential fall-out as Brett struggles with memories from the past, the loss of his sister, and the battle between head and heart as it pertains to the man who abandoned his wife and family years before. The premise is heart warming and inspiring; the characters are spirited and energetic; the romance is sensual, emotional and provocative. BRETT: BAD BOYS AFTER DARK is a wonderful tale about two people courageous enough to give love a chance.

Ugly cry. Ugly silent cry. Because, of course when I finished this book, everyone else in my house was asleep. So that ugly cry that would have sounded so horrible was painfully silent. So sad. And then SO INCREDIBLY HAPPY. That is one of my favorite things about Melissa Foster - you can count on one or both of the main characters not wanting to fall in love, then lots of steam, and a happy ending. I have yet to read one of her books that doesn't have a happy ending. And this one . . . oh, Mr. Bad, you are SO good. I used to think my heart could only belong to the Bradens, then I opened up to the Seaside a bit. But now, they have had to move over and make room for the Bads. And not just Brett and Sophie! Yet another thing I love about Melissa's writing - if you read a series like the Bad Boys After Dark series and fall in love with one of the side characters, there will probably be a book about their love story, too. She makes it so easy to completely immerse yourself in the world of her characters. In fact, I have already purchased Mick's book and will be diving into his and Amanda's story next. The characters - I love how real Brett and Sophie are. Brett is a bad boy (and not only because of his last name), who really isn't looking to settle down and be a one-woman man. In fact, he doesn't want it at all. But he does want Sophie. And I loved how it was obvious at first that Sophie wanted him, but she tries to deny it. There were many points in this book where I just couldn't put it down. And the ending - don't worry, no spoilers - but I think this is probably my favorite ending of any of her books, so far ;)

If there is one you have come to know about me and my reviews is the fact that I love Melissa Foster books. She has this ability to make all her characters real, with real emotions, that given their situations are true and realistic. Brett’s story is no different, he is the last of the Bad Brothers to get his story and I believe he was the epitome of “saving the best for last”. Brett has watched his brothers all become changed men and get married and have kids, he feels he will never have that – as did all the others, but they know that he will when the time is right and with the right person. That person is Sophie. Sexy Sophie, in fact works for Mick and yes Brett has been after her for a while but she knows what he is like and doesn’t want to be another notch on his post, but when she decided to throw caution to the wind and take him up on his offer of a one night with Brett little did she know he would be the one to want more! (ok we all knew it would become more – but it was fun watching them fight the inevitable) The chemistry was there as ever from the start with Brett and Sophie, and though he is still fighting his demons for the past following the death of his 8 year old sister, Sophie brings out a change in him allowing him to seek out his father – who he has so much hatred for – and start to reconcile with him. Brett find his ever after with Sophie and she brings out the good in him that everyone knew was there he was just too stubborn to let out. Another brilliant read from Melissa!
