About this ebook

USA Today Bestseller

In this stunning series debut from
New York Times bestselling author Madeline Hunter, a duke’s mysterious bequest brings fortune—and passion—to three young women . . .

Minerva Hepplewhite has learned the hard way how to take care of herself. When an intruder breaks into her home, she doesn’t swoon or simper. Instead she wallops the rogue over the head and ties him up—only to realize he is Chase Radnor, a gentleman and grandson of a lord, and a man who makes it his business to investigate suspicious matters. Now he’s insisting that Minerva has inherited a fortune from his uncle, a wealthy duke. Only one thing could surprise her more: her sudden attraction to this exasperating man . . .

Chase can’t decide whether Minerva is a wronged woman or a femme fatale. Either way, he’s intrigued. Maddeningly, with her unexpected inheritance, she has set up a discreet detective business to rival Chase’s own. She may be the perfect person to help him uncover the truth about his uncle’s demise. But as proximity gives way to mutual seduction, Chase realizes he craves a much deeper alliance . . .

Minera Hepplewhite learns that she is now a heiress of a large sum of money along with two other unknown women from a Duke she has never meet before. Minera and her two housemates are now considered about Minera's past coming back to haunt her as this Duke's death is under suspicion for murder. They decide to stick it out and figure out who her benefactor is and why did he leave her this large some of money instead of his family. Minera and her housemates decide to go undercover in the Duke's home to learn more about will. Minera finds Chase who is nothing like is money hungry family and a sweet romance is sprouted. Minera struggles with her feelings as she has a traumatic past from her previous husband who abused her physically, verbally, and sexually. Chase and Minera are great together and work perfectly as a team as they indirectly work together figuring out who actually had a motive to murder the Duke. The suspense is great without over taking the charming romantic love story from Chase and Minera. This love story ends with Minera opening her heart to Chase and being able to love again where she can truly be happy and free. This is the first book of the series and I absolutely can't wait for more books from Madeline Hunter. I received this book for free from BookishFirst and Kensington Publishing for my honest review.

Heiress for Hire was enjoyable! I got an advance copy of this book from the publisher in exchange for a review. This book was a fairly quick read for me because it flowed nicely. I enjoyed reading about Minerva who was able to rebuild herself after an awful marriage to Algernon into a strong woman who can take care of herself and goes out of the way to help others with her new business that she opens after receiving a mysterious inheritance from a duke that may or may no have been murdered. I do like how Minerva can handle any problems and does not need a man to make her way in the world. Though, that does not mean that Chase does not have a place in her world. I laughed several times at their maneuvering, as each are trying to solve the case of the duke's death. They are cute together and I don't mind if they show up in the next book of the series. I don't usually read romance novels like this but I enjoyed it and on a side note, I must say that the cover is absolutely gorgeous! I think I would read rest of the series, if only to find out who killed the duke.

WOW! Heiress For Hire is a spectacular historical romance by Madeline Hunter. Ms. Hunter has provided readers with a book that is not only well-written, it's furnished with a cast of characters that is second to none. I totally love the characters in this story. Minerva changed her name and moved from the area after her husband was killed and she was suspected. She now does investigations. When an intruder enters her home she doesn't hesitate to bash him in the head. Chase is doing an investigation of his own into his uncle's death. Minerva is due to inherit a goodly sum and is now one of his suspects. Chase and Minerva's story is packed with drama, humor, smokin' hot sexy bits, action and suspense. I loved every page of this book and look forward to reading more from Madeline Hunter soon. Heiress For Hire is book 1 of the A Duke's Heiress Series but can be read as a standalone. This is a complete book, not a cliff-hanger. I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book that I received from NetGalley. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
