The first I’ve read in this series, the story is based on widower Slider, a member of the Raven Riders MC, and his two sons Sam and Ben, and his slow recovery after his wife’s death. The past two years have been a struggle for him: he’s retreated from everyone in the club, his friends and anything other than work, his sons and the endless loneliness he feels. Obviously still reeling from grief – he can’t find the way to make things better, but being both mother and father, and supporting the family is starting to overwhelm him. He knows he needs help with the boys, so he turns to the best friend of his club’s president’s girlfriend: Cora. Cora and her best friend Haven have found security, acceptance and safety with the Raven Riders, and for now, security and safety are all that Cora wants. Men and relationships don’t enter into her plans: a cruel and abusive father taught her early on that to rely on and love someone could be detrimental to her health and happiness. But when the offer to be the nanny to Sam and Ben appears, Cora is interested and hopes to make some small difference to the boys who are so obviously hurting. Her caring nature, sense of fun and patience instantly speak to the boys, and they are quickly coming to love her. Slider isn’t concerned, much, for he wants the best for his boys, but he can’t help seeing the changes that Cora is bringing about for him. Oh the chemistry between these two is wonderful – and they are both so wounded from their pasts that slow and gentle is the way to go. And the boys and their obvious affection for her, along with their brighter demeanors and cheerful outlook show Slider that Cora was absolutely the right decision. And then, in one moment everything changes. Cora sees something that she shouldn’t have - and the safety she’s pulled around her like a cloak is jeopardized. It’s a turning point for Slider: he must protect Cora: the woman who loves his sons and who showed him the p0ossibility of hope and happiness – or run the risk of being worse off without her. Kaye plays on every emotion – hope, sadness, fear, attraction, humor – and takes us on a ride that lets readers in and shows that finding your place in the world is never without risk, but always well worth the chance. This is the book I have been waiting for, the book I was hoping for, and I am ecstatic at that Laura Kaye gave me everything I wanted and more! With Cora, it was love at first sight for me; she has an undeniable quality that just appealed to me, and I knew her story would be fantastic, because she is unforgettable; Slider was very enigmatic, and Cora paired with Slider is a literary dream come true! Never has Ms. Kaye written such multifaceted characters as Cora and Slider; they have both suffered so much, but while Cora has survived and has never let her horrendous experiences ruin her life, Slider’s life is holding by a thread, or rather two threads: his two sons, Sam and Ben. I am not particularly a fan of children in romances, but in RIDE WILD, it was perfectly executed; Sam and Ben come off as normal children, even in the painful context of their short lives, and are an essential component of the story, and actually of the romance. I was really astonished at how I became involved in the story, and how the romance develops is absolutely perfect every step of the way; it followed a logical path, it could not have progressed otherwise; it was difficult to watch at times, and I say “watch” because I “saw” them. I experienced what they felt, how they felt, and how I cheered for them! Dog fighting, dirty cops, and dude, that ending! Seldom does an author write exactly the book you wanted to read, and with RIDE WILD, Laura Kaye did just that. RIDE WILD is an extraordinary book, a romance for the ages, and Laura Kaye at her very best; this is the real deal! I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book.

I have loved all the characters in this entire series, and this book just reminds me why. This story although is about Slider and his kids and of course lovable, laughable Cora we get all the characters we have grown to love and even some from other stories. That is one thing I love about this author she brings us those characters and reminds us why we love her stories. Finally, they may get to take down once and for all a cop who has been after the bikers for quite awhile. Many things transpire in this story, but we get a heck of a lot of action, suspense and the romance is over the top. Loved it !!
