One of the stronger books in the series though painfully short. Fewer typos than usual. Still falls into the trap of being the author's Dungeons and Dragons fantasy. He likes to write that his main character is "not the best archer" but then has him perfectly hit everything he aims at. Also, if you expect anyone but the main character to do the impossible and save the day every single time, read a different series.

Since reading this series I could not put my phone down, not for much, at least. I have grown to admire the characters and love each of them for their unique qualities and persistence against impossible odds. I am engrossed so much as to begin theorizing the main protagonist - the one Ridmark is maddeningly unaware of - is the fallen angel Lucifer of the Dominus Christus. I am eagerly awaiting the next three books.
