About this ebook

The international bestselling series with over 5 million copies sold in the U.S. alone!

For years, the Kingdom of Araluen has prospered, with the evil lord Morgarath safely behind the impassable mountains. For years, its people have felt secure. But the scheming hand of the dark lord has not been idle. . . . On a special mission for the rangers, Will and his friend Horace, an apprentice knight, travel to a neighboring village and discover the unsettling truth: all the villagers have either been slain or captured. Could it be that Morgarath has finally devised a plan to bring his legions over the supposedly insurmountable pass? If so, the king's army is in imminent danger of being crushed in a fierce ambush. And Will and Horace are the only ones who can save them.

Perfect for fans of J.R.R. Tolkien’s Lord of the Rings, T.H. White’s The Sword in the Stone, Christopher Paolini’s Eragon series, and George R. R. Martin’s Game of Thrones/A Song of Ice and Fire series.

Lovin' the series. From what people were saying about the reviews of this book, it isn't as good as the first; to tell you the truth, I actually enjoyed it, crazy right? I guess it's a bit boring in the camping parts since they happen often but the action was great. Also, Halt and Will, they may not have much screentime together but their relationship ends up stronger in the end. SPOILERS AHEAD: The death of Morgarath, why? Especially Horace killing him? Seriously? And using a Ranger's move... Maybe Morgarath survives, maybe not but he was turning out to be an awesome villain especially since it was pushing 16 years of his revenge attack building up. Loved the part about the 'axman' between Horace, Gilan, and Will, also loved the time they spent together camping. Loved the part where Halt tossed Digsby and then Montague into a moat😂 The thing between Will and Alyssa, why? Kiss in the first book is just too rushed. Also, Will getting jealous when Horace and 'Evelyn' were laughing😶

Will in this book is pathetic and stupid. The book doesn't even really focus on him, he is a bit character in his own book. The end is garbage. The plot is lazy. It tries to say he is skilled a focus yet he is always distracted. He literally gets knocked out by a thrown rock because he let's a group fo enemies get to within 30 ft to get a better shot then forgets all about them to have a conversation with someone. This was just a disappointing story.

I originally bought the first book for my son to have something to read over the summer about 8 years ago. It sat on the shelf for a few months until one day I picked it up and started reading it. I couldn't put it down and after I finished I had to get the rest. this intrigued my son and he started the series. I'm now 43 and my son is 21. we habe read every Ranger's Apprentice book 3× each and I am working through Brotherband and Royal Ranger. Absolutely the best story ever!! Deserves 100☆
