About this ebook

The New York Times bestselling author of Eat to Live and Super Immunity and one of the country’s leading experts on preventive medicine offers a scientifically proven, practical program to prevent and reverse diabetes—without drugs.

At last, a breakthrough program to combat the rising diabetes epidemic and help millions of diabetics, as well as those suffering with high blood pressure and heart disease. Joel Fuhrman, M.D. Research director of the Nutritional Research Foundation, shows you how to live a long, healthy, and happy life—disease free. He offers a complete health transformation, starting with a diet with a high nutrient-per-calorie ratio that can be adapted for individual needs.

Dr. Fuhrman makes clear that we don’t have to “control” diabetes. Patients can choose to follow better nutritional guidelines that will control it for them, even before they have lost excess weight. The end result is a medical breakthrough—a comprehensive reversal of the disease.

it IS radical, and it IS difficult to find a rhythm in such a shift of diet and lifestyle but it DOES work. and regardless of what form of diabetes you have as well as most other diseases, it may not cure it, but either way you'll be benefitted by this diet. many reviewers could take a lesson in "don't knock it till you try it". many are quick to dismiss it because of former training or misinformation picked up along the way, but we as a nation we are constantly being sold processed foods and sugars like its a normal part of life,,, and were now at an all time high "morbid" obesity rate and our health issues are following suite. if we don't reeducate ourselves about what our bodies require and begin to demand more from our food sources its going to be pandemic. this book is a good place to begin that education. i got the diabetes diagnosis (type 2) several years back. around '08 and it kept getting progressively worse under the treatment meds with my endocrinologist. but then i went for my 50 year check-up with a family MD about this time last year, and he recommended this book. in less than a year, i've gone from an a1c of 7.5 (while taking 500mg of metformin and 66 units of slow insulin) to a 5.6 a1c and that's all now with zero medication,,, i thought he was crazy when he put me on the diet but i nor my endocrinologist can argue with the numbers.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again. It is extremely irresponsible to not make the distinction between type 2 diabetes and type 1. They are two very different conditions. Type 1 diabetes is a life long problem, and requires multiple daily injections of insulin. Type 2 manifests in so many ways, that some may be able to control it with diet, some may not.

This is ONLYfor thise with manageable cases of type 2 diabetes. Type 1 is NOT reversable besides a pancreas transplant. Type one means the organ is dead. Type 2 it is weak and you can save it theough diet and exercise for some cases; not all.
