About this ebook

To save the woman he loves, he has to let a killer walk free.

Annabelle Englewood's life is crumbling around her. Her entire family is slaughtered; she's accused of committing the crime; and the detective working the case is making her feel things she doesn't want to feel and challenging her belief that she is unworthy of being loved.

Detective Xavier Montague knows better than to get involved with a woman in a case he's working. Especially one who is so emotionally vulnerable. And yet, against his better judgment, he's drawn to Annabelle, but this forbidden attraction will force him to confront the darkest time in his life.

Story would be good, but I can't get over the behaviour of the male detective in this book (also found the same thing offputting with another of the author's books, although this one is worse!!). His actions toward a victim is profoundly creepy, and I find it disturbing that his possessiveness, jealously, stalking, controlling and GETTING NAKED in the shower within days of meeting her, is somehow romanticized?!! So yes, creepy and disturbing, and not in the way I was hoping for in a thriller. I can't even keep reading!!

Wow this felt more like a horror novel than a romance. There is truly some detailed gore in this so be advised if you are sensitive. There is a romance buried in this tale of some really sordid crime scenes. There is also a lot of jumping around almost like the mind of a killer fleeting from one thing to the next. Put your seat belt on because it is a wild and bloody ride so get ready for it because this author spares no details. This is my first read by this author and yes there is a cliff hanger and I am intrigued about where she will take this story after this ending. I can't wait.

Stupid book. Good plot, but that's it. It was like reading a grade 2 level book with an adult plot. Sorry I wasted my time reading it.

About the author

Jane has loved reading and writing since she can remember. She writes dark and disturbing crime/mystery/suspense with some romance thrown in because, well, who doesn't love romance?! She has several series including the complete Detective Parker Bell series, the Count to Ten series, the Flashes of Fate series of novelettes, and a Christmas series.

When she's not writing Jane loves to read, bake, go to the beach, ski, horse ride, and watch Disney movies. She has a black belt in Taekwondo, a 200+ collection of teddy bears, and her favorite color is pink. She has the world's two most sweet and pretty Dalmatians, Ivory and Pearl. Oh, and she also enjoys spending time with family and friends!
