The plot is cleverly written and contains twists and turns that rival a roller coaster. The characters are solidly drawn ... but some of the conversations between them seem a little disjointed ... I have read this author's works for several years and always found them full of action, suspenseful .. but this one just didn't make the cut for me. This is one of the funniest books ever. It is a typical murder mystery told in the classic vein of Sherlock Holmes. Plus, it adds in some witty, charismatic and hilarious humor that makes the reading experience fantastic. Win, the main character and detective of this novel, is fascinating, complex and quick-witted. He knows how to interact with his environment, he is shameless and he is flawed. Yet, none of this stops his from being light-hearted. The plot of this book was complex and the story of the stolen painting is riveting. The conclusion is worthwhile and ties together all of the loose ends. So, all in all, this book is simply amazing and an enjoyable read.

Wow! This book grabbed my attention quickly and kept it until the very last page. Win's story is filled with twists and turns, ending in a place I never expected. This is the first (of many, I hope) in a new series spun off from the Myron Bolitar series. I really enjoyed the story unfolding from Win's point of view. If you like fast paced action filled with unconventional investigation and intervention, you will love this book. I loved this one and couldn't put it down. This is a must read for fans of the genre. The author is on my must read authors' list.
