I was hoping this character (Renee Ballard) would grow on me but, alas, still one of the most unlikable characters ever written. Because I accidentally read Desert Star first I can assure you that nothing gets any better with this character. I won't be reading any more of these.

Wayyyyyyyyy too much woke liberal garbage stuffed between a rather good plot line. He ACTUALLY wrote the line "tRuSt ThE sCiEnCe" in the book. Turn MSNBC off for while and just write novels, my guy.

Great first hand perspective of a woman on the job. The issues addressed are only part of the problem with policing. More funding and community outreach needed with specialists to assist with mental health crisis.
