This is the the ultimate Daredevil story by Frank Miller! As we see the Kingpin turn the screws on Matt Murdock upon learning Daredevil's secret identity, we are treated to a harrowingly powerful epic of the superhero's soul. The struggle to survive seeing his life destroyed was Miller's way to get the character to basics and understand what he truly fights for. Meanwhile, we see the trials of Ben Urich understands what is happening, only to caught up in his own turmoil until both heroes reach their own epiphanies and fight back. When the Kingpin goes foolishly too far attacking Hell's Kitchen, Captain America comes in with his finest portrayal of the character's history as an old-school patriot trying to deal with a modern evil without feeling old. This series is tour-de-force for anyone to read what superhero fiction can be in the confines of the pre-established story universes.
