CRIME IN THE CAFE (A LACEY DOYLE COZY MYSTERY—BOOK 3) is book three in a charming new cozy mystery series by Fiona Grace.

Lacey Doyle, 39 years old and freshly divorced, has made a drastic change: she has walked away from the fast life of New York City and settled down in the quaint English seaside town of Wilfordshire.

Summer is nearly here, and Lacey has fallen more in love with the town and with her chef boyfriend. She has even made a best friend: the new owner of a local B&B. And when her friend needs her services for the decoration of her inn, buying nearly everything in Lacey’s antique shop, her business even gets an extra boost.

Everything’s going perfectly—until someone mysteriously dies in her friend’s new B&B.

Their village turned upside down and her new friend’s livelihood now in jeopardy, it’s up to Lacey and her dog to get to the bottom of the mystery.

Lacey just keeps stumbling over dead bodies. What's more surprising is that there is so much action in the small English town she has recently come to call home. In this new saga, Suzy has recently arrived in town to start up a new B&B much to the dismay of many in the town. Lacey is convinced to help her decorate the place to match her chosen Victorian theme. In the midst of the preparation, the town mayor is shot and both Lacey and Suzy are suspected. Lacey (with the help of her chef boyfriend Tom) must once again save the day, lest the wrong person be convicted. There are also a slew of potential criminal masterminds, friends and old enemies. But is it the obvious solution or is something more going on? Fiona Grace's latest novel brings back some of the novelty of her first book, along with many of the characters we have come to love over the course of the series. While it refers to the previous books, it can also be read as a standalone. I did get a little annoyed with Lacey's jealously toward her boyfriend's young, new employee, but this may be reasonable as long as she works it out and doesn't let it continue into the next story. There was also an interesting side story of a smart female being overlooked and demeaned by her less-that-smart male superior; I sincerely hope this is remedied as the series continues. Suzy was delightful, and even the twists in her story and personality make sense as they occur. Fiona Grace is an engaging writer who makes her readers care about the characters and the way the story will turn out. I look forward to reading her next book. Crime in the Café is the third book in the "A Lacey Doyle Cozy Mystery" series. I loved this addition to the series. Lacey has to deal with murder, helping a friend, and trying to resolve her jealousy over her boyfriend's new assistant. The characters in this story are likable and realistic. The storyline is well written and kept my interest from start to finish. I am looking forward to the next book in this series. I read and reviewed this book with no obligation.

Lacey is missing spending time with her beau Tom. Since he hired an assistant to allegedly allow him more time with her, he has been even busier at the cafe and spending more time with Fiona, the new assistant. Divorce has many later victims. Self confidence and struggling to trust someone new after the last one cheated on you are definitely on the list. Change is in the wind. A new mayor who is determined to bring in new business to undeveloped parts of the town threatens the proprietors of the old. An attentive wants to be more than a friend is a distraction from afar. Much ado in a small village I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
