About this ebook

NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER • The seventh book in Diana Gabaldon’s acclaimed Outlander saga, the basis for the Starz original series.

“All you’ve come to expect from Gabaldon . . . adventure, history, romance, fantasy.”—The Arizona Republic

Jamie Fraser, former Jacobite and reluctant rebel, is already certain of three things about the American rebellion: The Americans will win, fighting on the side of victory is no guarantee of survival, and he’d rather die than have to face his illegitimate son—a young lieutenant in the British army—across the barrel of a gun.

Claire Randall knows that the Americans will win, too, but not what the ultimate price may be. That price won’t include Jamie’s life or his happiness, though—not if she has anything to say about it.

Meanwhile, in the relative safety of the twentieth century, Jamie and Claire’s daughter, Brianna, and her husband, Roger MacKenzie, have resettled in a historic Scottish home where, across a chasm of two centuries, the unfolding drama of Brianna’s parents’ story comes to life through Claire’s letters. The fragile pages reveal Claire’s love for battle-scarred Jamie Fraser and their flight from North Carolina to the high seas, where they encounter privateers and ocean battles—as Brianna and Roger search for clues not only to Claire’s fate but to their own. Because the future of the MacKenzie family in the Highlands is mysteriously, irrevocably, and intimately entwined with life and death in war-torn colonial America.

Not as good as the previous books...too many storylines...sometimes it was hard to remember what/who's story I was reading. Too much John Grey, he's not a character I enjoy reading about and didn't like the relationship between Claire and him, something I wouldn't think could happen knowing the strong relationship of Claire and Jamie and John's sexual preference not being women.

I bought this when it came out in paperback and I have to say I was somewhat disappointed. I've been an avid fan of the series but there were too many plots and twists in the last 1/4 of the book to the point it began to feel like a daytime soap opera. I started to wonder if perhaps Diana had lost track of her characters and had a clue herself where this was all leading. Let's hope there indeed is a book #8 and some answers.

Fell in love the moment I started reading her books and I haven't stop, Echo in the Bone left me rather frustrated when I got to the very end, not so much how it ended it was the thought that I'd have to wait several years for her next book, it took 4yrs for this book to come out, I know it takes a lot of time and research to write a novel especially historical ones but patience certainly runs out, never have i brought books as we do have libraries but I've been buying instead, and I don't mind have a nice collection of novels now even ones recommended. this book certainly took a turn that was unexpected, certainly fooled me thats for sure, so I hope her next novel comes out quickly, she { Diana } has Inspirer me to try my hand at been a historical novelist in romance. I loved this book can't wait to see what happens when Bri fines her kidnaped son and whoz behind it although fellow readers we do know who? do we not, or perhaps not, anyway loved the way communication was recieved in present time from pass tense with informative information of Clair and Frazers life wow wouldnt that be a blast for us in todayz time, but it's just a story after all, that takes your imagination on an historical journey of love,betrayal, haterd, should I go on? no. Read the book for your self, why ask what it's about how can one know if we don't find out for ourselves. Florence Te Ao Kaurangi Tapiki { Hamilton NZ }
