It’s hardly a hardship, as he loves being around her, when she’s not dipping her toes in his active cases. And yet somehow she manages to find old cases that dovetail with his ongoing ones, giving her an exaggerated opinion of where her boundaries are.

What seems simple on the surface goes back into history to a case that was done and dusted, with the killer now out free, looking for revenge. But, of course, it’s not that simple or that easy; and, by the time Doreen and her animal crew are done, the world has shifted for more than just one person in this case.

Ratings and reviews

This is the first book in this series that pushed the animals into the far background. Very disappointing. Nothing about how happy they are to see Nan and vice versa. Nan not having treats for them, no mention of how they react to her speaking aloud to them/herself ect. (Doreen). They bring a lot of charm to the books that I feel was missing. Also getting tired of hearing how poor Doreen feels. Would like to see money come in from the books and antiques with a little more frequency and her cooking lessons added back in. Makes her and Mack's relationship more real. I gave this book 4☆ because I've enjoyed the previous books. I hope the author gets back to her normal writing in her next book or that will be the last one i buy. The settlement with her ex be danged.

I loved reading Toes up in the Tulips . This story is sensational . In this 20th story in the lovely lethal garden series we find corporal Mack Moreau and Doreen growing closer but waiting for her divorce to be finalized . She isn't comfortable moving their relationship forward till then . When a woman is killed her boyfriend asks for Doreen's help clearing his name . Doreen soon finds herself knee deep involved . The case is tied to an older case . Doreen and her animals with the help of Mack try to catch the killer and solve the older case . This story is full of intrigue and suspense and it's very entertaining . I highly recommend taking the time to read . I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Once again Doreen and her team of feather and fur stumble upon a cold case that bumps into Mack's active case. Love Goliath, Mugs, and Thadeus. In the meantime precious friendships warm and nourish. I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
