"Christopher Paolini is a true rarity." —The Washington Post

Not so very long ago, Eragon—Shadeslayer, Dragon Rider—was nothing more than a poor farm boy, and his dragon, Saphira, only a blue stone in the forest. Now the fate of an entire civilization rests on their shoulders.

Long months of training and battle have brought victories and hope, but they have also brought heartbreaking loss. And still, the real battle lies ahead: they must defeat Galbatorix. There will be no second chances. The Rider and his dragon have come further than anyone dared to hope. But can they topple the evil king and restore justice to Alagaësia? And if so, at what cost?

I couldn't wait for this book to come out, when it did I couldn't finish it. Pointless banter, boring politics and over analyzing every situation made this book unbearable. I don't even care how it ends at this point. His writing is immature and I believe this entire series borders on plagiarism. Check out a song of ice and fire. It seems to me this kid did more than just borrow a few ideas.

This series should have been a trilogy. The last two book should have been condensed. In this final (?) Chapter in Eragons story, too many chapter are written on how the hero prepares for the final battle against Galbatorix, and too little line on the actual battle. A lot of different, interesting routes where the story could have gone were easily distinguishable and yet, Paolini has not seized any of those. the Only reason I kept reading was my eagerness to find out how the story would end, and when it did, I wasn't satisfied. On a positive side, a lot is explained on the inner workings of Alagaësia.

Badly written, nearly boring. Since I like to finish the book, I read it though and through, but you would lose interest after maybe 10 pages. The chapter narration seem to change depending on the mood on the author. The Author seems to spend more time detailing on parts which is the most boring and seems to skip details on subjects which would seem interesting. Too many instances/references to other novels, example Doctor Who.
