A bold and totally under appreciated era of Claremont's X-Men. Complex themes, foreshadowing, and subtle symbolism for those readers interested in a multi-layered experience of the X-Men universe, yet it still contains some of the familiar tropes of classic X-Men. This collection is not super accessible on its own -- it's part of a much larger arc of X-Men continuity -- but it's still my favorite era of X-Men lore.
