This storyline elevated the the X-Men into Marvel's premiere comic book at the time of its writing. The Dark Phoenix, the Wolverine Alone storyline, the introduction of Shadowcat and Dazzler, and the reappearances of Beast and Angel all had significant impacts within the Marvel universe. Ironically, a few issues after this story's conclusion The Days of Future Past storyline emerged--so in the space of 14 issues the basis for two movies were established. And if you count the Black King, 3 movies.

Was hard to read through some of the cornball comments. I understand the story was written decades ago which is why I still gave it a 4 star. I wanted to read the older stuff because I heard some of the X men comics are very good. I am reading the comics in order starting here

Awesome story! It's a bit slow towards the middle, but the ending was worth the wait. Excellently-crafted story. If you're an X-Men fan, I highly recommend this book!!
