Charles Baudelaire, geboren am 9. April 1821 in Paris und gestorben am 31. August 1867, war ein französischer Dichter und Schriftsteller. Bekannt machte ihn seine Gedichtsammlung Les Fleurs du mal. Er lebte ein ausschweifendes Leben der Pariser Bohème. Die Fanfarlo beschreibt seine Liebe zur Schauspielerin und Tänzerin Jeanne Duval, die er selbst als seine Muse bezeichnete.
