Sometimes an idea just won’t let go of you for years. The initial seed of this novel was the title that eventually turned into The Frugal Wizard’s Handbook for Surviving Medieval England. At first there was no story go to with that title, but I wrote it down and kept coming back to it, wondering what that book could possibly be about. Something else I thought about off and on for years was the classic concept of a man waking up in another time and another place, with no idea how he got there. It was when those two ideas came together, and I placed a book with that title into that man’s hands, that this novel was born. I hope you’ll have as much fun with it as I did!

Ratings and reviews

A different book from Sanderson. it does of course Feature his usual amazing and "human" characters with character and a world you Just want to figure all the mysteries out. But during the middle of the book i felt that it mixes a Ton of ideas that dont really fit well together, but at the end i must say all the pieces went into place and resulted in a great Storie.

A quick and fun read that will delight Sanderson fans. It kind of reminded me of Pratchett's The Colour of Magic in more ways than one.

I love how Sanderson takes you on a different and unexpected journey. Not at all what I expected, but a very entertaining short fiction

About the author

Brandon Sanderson was born on December 19, 1975 in Lincoln, Nebraska. He received a bachelor's degree in English and a master's degree in creative writing from Brigham Young University. His first book, Elantris, was published in 2005. His other works include the Mistborn series, the Stormlight Archive series, Alcatraz Versus the Evil Librarians series, and the Reckoners series. In 2007, he was chosen by Harriet Rigney to complete A Memory of Light, book twelve in Robert Jordan's Wheel of Time series. He has continued the series with Towers of Midnight and A Memory of Light. In 2018 his title, White Sand Volume 2, made the Best Seller List.
