A big Hmmm??? Love all Blakes books but find it quite hard to gel with Kate.. The scene was nail-biting with the killer and Kate but why the killer did what he did was a bit weak I thought and the indecision with Kates job or her BF is getting a tad annoying now. Also the ending has a major major twist that I cannot decide if I like it or not! Also Kate is 56 but on reading the start of the next in line is now 55?? Think the storyline needs to be less about Kates current situation and more about who killed her husband and why....

I received an advanced copy of this book and volunteer to leave an honest review. Like all of Blake's book this has the twists and turns that keep you guessing till the end "who done it"? And in true Blake fashion you are left with a cliff hanger at the end! Can't wait for the next book!

Agent Kate Wise is still on her journey of finding balance. I feel that this book centers around Kate’s struggles: work/life balance, mentor/mentee, old/young, past/present. While still impulsive, Kate has finally learned to let go and let her partner, DeMarco learn by leading. Yet she also feels like she hasn’t done everything she wants or needs to do in so far as teaching DeMarco. Kate realizes that she is older but doesn’t really want to have to make the conscious choice to leave the bureau yet secretly hopes for an external cause her to have to leave. She doesn’t want to give up and feels like she would be a failure. Blake Pierce delivers an ending that could definitely change the entire storyline.
