About this audiobook

Don’t miss the eagerly anticipated epic new fantasy from Christopher Paolini—Murtagh!

A new adventure hatches in Book One of the Inheritance Cycle, perfect for fans of Lord of the Rings! This New York Times bestselling series has sold over 40 million copies and is an international fantasy sensation.

"Christopher Paolini is a true rarity." —The Washington Post

When fifteen-year-old Eragon finds a polished blue stone in the forest, he thinks it is the lucky discovery of a poor farm boy. But when the stone brings a dragon hatchling, Eragon soon realizes he has stumbled upon a legacy nearly as old as the Empire itself.

Overnight his simple life is shattered, and, gifted with only an ancient sword, a loyal dragon, and sage advice from an old storyteller, Eragon is soon swept into a dangerous tapestry of magic, glory, and power. Now his choices could save—or destroy—the Empire.

Every time I come back, this series brings me such joy and sadness❤️ One of the few of my childhood books that holds up to being as good as I remember it

I loved this book series growing up and years later the story still holds up very well. I would give the book a solid 5 star rating! But like many others have said the narration isn't the best. In my opinion the general narration, and most of the voices for background male characters are just fine. The voices for female characters are a bit awkward, and both Eragon's and Murtagh's voices seem off or ill fitting. But by far the worst is Saphira's voice with Solembum's a close second. Both voices feel very over done and gimmicky... think Oscar the grouch meets Yoda meets god knows what else. All in all you can get used to it, but if subpar narration bothers you I suggest you just read the book yourself.

love the series, hate the narration. not a lot of variation in the voices until you get to Saphira. His voice for her makes me physically cringe, to the point where I have no want to listen further than Eragon naming her. Maybe if you've never read it, and have no expectation for her voice, you might be able to look past it. I still recommend the series for reading though.

About the author

Christopher Paolini’s abiding love of fantasy and science fiction inspired him to begin writing his debut novel, Eragon, when he graduated from high school at fifteen after being homeschooled all his life. Both Eragon and Eldest, the second book in the Inheritance trilogy, became instant New York Times bestsellers. Christopher is currently at work on the final volume in the trilogy. He lives in Montana, where the dramatic landscape feeds his visions of Alagaësia.
