"Christopher Paolini is a true rarity." —The Washington Post

Oaths sworn . . . loyalties tested . . . forces collide... Eragon is the greatest hope to rid the land of tyranny. Can this once simple farm boy unite the rebel forces and defeat the king? Following the colossal battle against the Empire's warriors, Eragon and his dragon, Saphira, have narrowly escaped with their lives. Still, there is more adventure at hand for the Rider and his dragon, as Eragon finds himself bound by a tangle of promises he may not be able to keep.

When unrest claims the rebels and danger strikes from every corner, Eragon must make choices-choices that will take him across the Empire and beyond, choices that may lead to unimagined sacrifice.

I love the series and world building/ character development in this book. However, I absolutely despise the writing from Saphira's point of veiw. in all of the other books and even in this one, Saphira and dragons as a whole are described as fully intelligent beings. then you get to the chapters about her and its written so stupidly... saying things like "the round ear two legs". Stupid, absolutely stupid... she has said the word human/humans multiple times before. It's literally the dumbest thing in these books

This series is still appealing to me after so many years. The reader is pleasant to listen to. The series will take you on a journey of growth & adventure with just the right mix of battles in between. You really do feel attached to these characters & it's an easy read for the 1st book. The other books are lengthy. The only book I had a hard time getting through was the 2nd book but the audiobook helped me finish this series. I definitely recommend the Inheritance Cycle.

The narration is enjoyable and I absolutely love this series, but the god awful music that takes up the first minute of the story made me remove one star...
