In the fall of 1999, John Doerr met with the founders of a start-up whom he'd just given $12.5 million, the biggest investment of his career. In this goal-setting system, objectives define what we seek to achieve; key results are how those top-priority goals will be attained with specific, measurable actions within a set time frame. Everyone's goals, from entry level to CEO, are transparent to the entire organization.

Great book until you get to Google type OKRs which basically contradicts everything with the committed vs aspirational OKRs and makes everything not make sense anymore. If they drop that chapter the book becomes a 5 star book.

Wonderfully read, and in such a way that even tables and quotes take a much livelier form. You can truly picture it all in your head. I've got nothing but the highest praise.

Enjoyed the insights on making management strategies reportable and repeatable through the ranks.
