PIKKU KAKKOSEN ESKARI
Pikku Kakkosen Eskari application is designed for preschool children in cooperation with professionals and educators in various fields. It’s a part of digital play services by Pikku Kakkonen. With the app, the child can explore and excel at their own pace in a goal-oriented and fun way. A familiar character Reppu-Heppu and his friends are there to encourage the child.
The application presents various topics that come up in pre-school education. All the content is designed so that an illiterate child can use them independently. Pikku Kakkosen Eskari will be updated regularly with new content. The following are already included:
READING COMPREHENSION
Created in collaboration with Niilo Mäki Institute, the content allows the child to play with letters. Through various games, the child can get familiar with words, letters, phonetics and syllables.
MUSIC
In the music content, created by Big Ear Games, the child can explore musical scales, rhythms, melodies and harmonies through familiar songs. Creativity can also be expressed with the included sequencer, allowing the child to create their own music.
MATHS
PhD Jenni Vartiainen has been the pedagogical consultant for the maths content. With various games, the child can learn observation, classifying, comparing and seriation. The child can also get familiar with numerical symbols, decomposition, sequences, addition and subtraction.
ENGLISH
Created in collaboration with Niilo Mäki Institute, the content familiarizes the child with basic vocabulary and allows playful learning of different parts of speech.
CODING
PhD Jenni Vartiainen has been the pedagogical consultant for the coding content, where the child can explore the basics of algorithmic thinking. Through various games, the child can practice the creation of algorithms, problem decomposition and debugging.
SECURITY AND PRIVACY
Profile data is only saved locally on the device on which the application is installed and is never uploaded to any Yle servers.
Usage of the application is measured anonymously, respecting privacy.
