About this show

Escape is not freedom. Chaos is not revolution. Independence is not negotiable. And free will is not free. Welcome back to Westworld, the Emmy®-winning drama series that follows the dawn of artificial consciousness and the evolution of sin. In Season Three, the real gods are coming... and they are very angry. Born into a world of pain, Westworld’s android hosts were never allowed to go or see one place: our world. But now, at the end of the game, they’re here. With the help of Aaron Paul’s very human Caleb, Dolores is ready to start a revolution. And if that doesn’t work, she can do it the old-fashioned way... and kill everyone. Aaron Paul, Vincent Cassell, Lena Waithe and Scott Mescudi join Evan Rachel Wood’s Dolores, Jeffrey Wright’s Bernard, Thandie Newton’s Maeve and Ed Harris’s William in the new season, which explores the nature of our reality, free will and what makes us human.

The exposition is excessive, in my opinion. The characters are constantly talking to themselves, or to computers, or to hosts (robots), explaining every little thought in their heads. The violence is so extreme and so explicit that it becomes mind numbing after a while. The swearing is over the top. A few expletives here and there, but some of these characters, esp. the technicians, seem to use the F word in every sentence. Boring. It's a fantasy, a sci-fi story that borrows from Doll House, The Matrix, and Blade Runner. Special effects are very good. The employees were boring after 2-3 episodes, and the guests seem to disappear amidst all the intrigue between the chief, the employees and the androids. Like Doll House, the initial brilliance doesn't hold up as the series progresses. The violence becomes tiresome, the characters overly dramatic and their dialogue ponderous. It would be better if the writers would lighten up a bit, have some fun, inject a bit of humor. No one ever smiles in this show, and it's an unfortunate omission. I bought the season because it's pretty good, but I hope future seasons will improve.

I love the soundtrack/music, it exceeds the storyline and overly overdone complex jumps in chronology for the sake of keeping an audience guessing.... to return 7-days later for more brainracking anachronistic puzzles! I love, however, the music/soundtrack! After too many episodes toward the end of Season 1, things begin to make sense. But an audience with no patience and a teenage or 20-something year old attention-span would NEVER make it to Season 2! Have I said how much the soundtrack/music..

The locations selected are very beautiful and western. The overall concept is very interesting. Unfortunately, the go to word for script writers is "F__K." To me, that shows a lack of vocabulary. It is used over and over so many times, hearing it gets old in a hurry. Season 1 was the best. So far follow-on seasons have become less interesting. You would need multiple doctorates in psychology and psychiatry to keep up. If the show is picked up for a fifth season, there has to be better writing.
