About this show

It is time! Join Kion, second born cub of Simba and Nala, as he becomes the leader of the Lion Guard and assembles the best and brightest to help him keep the circle of life intact. Kion gathers not a team of lions, as tradition has dictated, but his own Lion Guard comprised of Bunga the bravest, Fuli the fastest, Beshte the strongest, and Ono the keenest of sight. But Kion himself must learn the power of his roar before a genuine and lasting peace can come to the Pridelands.

TLK is my favorite movie, and I am a die hard Kopa supporter who can't stand the plot holes dug by TLK2. So I was both skeptical and excited by the prospect of this series. It promises to educate kids on the animals of Africa by offering as new characters species rarely seen in media. I hope it also plans on filling plot holes rather than dig more. It already plays to the fans as there is an upcoming episode following the storyline of a popular German fanfic starring Kopa and a young hyena. And so far I really enjoyed the portrayal of the characters and the moral of the first adventure. I think we could have a Disney equivalent of Friendship is Magic on our paws--complete with cutie marks! I have a few complaints, such as the complete alteration of Kiara's personality. My biggest complaint is that the animation is stiff in some places--most notably the walk cycles--and the adult lions seem off model (as does Rafiki). But the facial expressions are pretty good for the most part. I hope TLG improves in its animation with every season, as DHX has with MLP. As long as the writing and animation continue to improve as the show progresses, I will continue to watch.

Very nice to finally see a series about the lion king after so long of waiting. Kids will be thrilled to see and will always link it to the movies. There is an issue of giving kids the idea of being stinky as a good idea and no harm in it which is actually not a good thing to embrace in a kids TV Series. Also, talking to dead ancestors seems way too misleading to kids. Any ways, it is fun and exciting to see the lion king back again.
