Peanuts Holiday Classics

The gang's celebration of Halloween is a mixed bag: as Linus hopes to finally be visited by the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown continually receives rocks as trick-or-treat goodies, and Lucy and Pig-Pen go out ready to stir up trouble!

The Peanuts gang gather around Charlie Brown's picnic table for a feast even though he's going over to his grandmother's for dinner at 4:30. Snoopy cooks up an unusual meal for the gang that causes some mixed feelings.

Charlie Brown, in the first Peanuts' special, thinks Christmas is too commercialized but decides to direct the school play where he learns about the true meaning of Christmas.

When Woodstock's nest mysteriously disappears, Snoopy plays detective in order to find it. They go to great lengths to find it while visiting and questioning each member of the Peanuts gang. In the end, it turns out to be a misunderstanding between Woodstock and Sally, who was using the nest as her prehistoric science project.

The Peanuts characters take the voyage to the new world. When they get there, they learn about disease, planting, building, and Squanto shows them how to get corn (or maize, as he calls it) to grow. They eventually have the first Thanksgiving.

In Happy New Year, Charlie Brown, the PEANUTS gang is ringing in 1986 and Marcie and Peppermint Patty are throwing a big New Year's Eve bash. Charlie Brown plans to celebrate the holiday by curling up with a big book that weighs nearly as much as he does: Tolstoy's War and Peace. The book's weight doesn't stop him from lugging it to Lucy's pre-party dance class, where he cuts a mean rug with a rollicking Patty. With just 1,131 pages to go, Charlie Brown takes another break, this time for the party, and summons the courage to invite his true love, the little red-haired girl. She doesn't respond, but hapless Chuck shows up anyway -- with Tolstoy in tow. Then he settles down with the book - on a porch swing in a snowstorm, and in so doing, misses the evening's big surprise.
